A few months have passed we reported on the DeskMini DMAF5, another mini-PC by MINISFORUM. Announced in June, the company has since received nearly US$90,000 in crowdfunding. Now, MINISFORUM claims to have started shipping the machine to backers and is taking fresh orders, too.
To recap, the DeskMini DMAF5 has an AMD Ryzen 5 3550H processor, a quad-core APU that has a Radeon Vega 8 GPU. The Ryzen 5 3550H uses AMD's Zen+ cores and has a 35 W TDP. While the APU cannot keep up AMD's newer Renoir chips, it holds its own against the Core i7-9750H in most tasks.
The machine also has two SO-DIMM slots that can be equipped with up to 32 GB of RAM, along with an M.2 drive bay for adding an SSD. MINISFORUM offers the DeskMini DMAF5 with 128 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB of storage, but you can purchase the machine without storage too. Additionally, there is a 2.5-inch drive bay for adding a slower HDD or SSD.
The DeskMini DMAF5 offers a host of I/O too, including two Gigabit ports, multiple USB ports and two video outputs. MINISFORUM is selling the DeskMini DMAF5 from US$399 but charges US$649 for the top-end model.
