Huami Amazfit GTR 2 and Amazfit GTS 2 smartwatches to launch soon: Contemporary looks and possible blood oxygen sensor for the second generation
The Huami Amazfit GTR 2 and Amazfit GTS 2 smartwatches will be officially launched on September 22. The two devices have turned up in a marketing image that shows what the second-generation watches look like. Although it’s clear to see how the two new products are related to the first-generation GTR and GTS, there have been some obvious refinements too.
On the left-hand side of the promo image (see below) is the upcoming Amazfit GTR 2. The smartwatch with a round face has a more classic appearance to it and the dial bezel certainly looks much narrower than the one possessed by its predecessor. The elegant GTR had a powerful battery life: The 47 mm variant with a 410-mAh battery offered 24 days of typical use and even 74 days of use in basic watch mode. The Huami Amazfit GTR 2 is expected to exceed those impressive figures.
As for the Amazfit GTS 2, it can be seen why even the founder of Huami, Wang Huang, has commented how the company’s products and the Apple Watch often “overlap” when it comes to design and function. The square-faced watch certainly had a strong Apple influence over its appearance with the first iteration; however, the second-generation smartwatch looks slimmer this time around.
The full specs of the Amazfit GTR 2 and GTS 2 haven’t been released yet, but there is hope for a blood oxygen sensor among the health-related functions, and it is likely typical smartwatch features like water-resistance, sports modes, smartphone connectivity, and heart-rate and sleep monitoring will be onboard. The new products from Huami are scheduled to be launched on September 22 with actual sales of the smartwatches starting on September 23.
