Huami has launched the Zepp Z smartwatch that has been teased over the last few days, and it certainly does not disappoint in either the looks department or feature list. Starting with the design, the Zepp Z has a circular housing that is made from a lightweight but strong titanium alloy. A brown leather band (22 mm width) is attached to the dial (46.3 mm), which features a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen and three hardware buttons. The top button is a “health key” that takes the user directly to the health-related apps, while the large middle crown is for scrolling the display content. The always-on AMOLED panel has a nano-tech coating to protect it from external damage.
Typically for this type of smartwatch, the Zepp Z offers 5 ATM water resistance and numerous faces, with over 50 classic and modern designs to choose from. As for tools, the Zepp Z comes with 24/7 heart-rate monitoring, SpO2 measurement, and the PAI health assessment system. The smartwatch also monitors the wearer’s quality of sleep and can also indicate when the user’s stress levels are too high. With 12 sports modes also onboard, the Zepp Z isn’t just a good-looking device – it’s also a useful tool for those with an active lifestyle. With this in mind, the wearable has been fitted with a 340-mAh battery offering 15 days of life for typical usage and 30 days in basic watch mode (main features turned off).
In addition to the health and fitness-related functions, the Zepp Z comes with GPS and GLONASS positioning capabilities and a convenient voice assistant in the form of Amazon’s Alexa. The Zepp Z offers Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and can be synced with smartphones operating on Android 5.0 or above or iPhones on iOS 10.0 and above. The memory situation consists of 16 MB RAM and 256 MB storage, and the Zepp Z can be charged via a magnetic wireless charger. It’s a lot of smartwatch with a beautiful design, which is reflected in the price tag. Shoppers in the US can buy the Zepp Z now for US$349 while those interested in the UK and Europe can currently pre-order the smartwatch for €349.90.
