Sharp outs the AQUOS XLED F8 Mini LED TV: 4K 120 Hz display has 1800 nits peak brightness and 2160 local dimming zones
Sharp recently announced the XLED F8, a Mini LED TV set to featured 2160 local dimming zones and a remarkable 1800-nit peak brightness. The XLED F8 is 65 inches, with a 4K 120 Hz panel. The large number of local dimming zones and very high brightness make it great for HDR content.
Sharp didn't offer details about response times or viewing angles, so it's still not clear exactly how well-suited the TV will be for gaming. The XLED F8 uses Mini LED tech, widely touted as a best-of-both-worlds compromise between the high brightness possible on IPS panels and OLED's better contrast and dimming capabilities.
In terms of pricing, the XLED F8 will launch at RMB 16999. This is a considerable outlay, equivalent to US$ 2500. Sharp appears to be limiting availability of the TV to China - it's unclear at the moment when (or if) you'll be able to get your hands on it in other places.
