Amazon Blink’s first video doorbell is now available. The gadget allows you to answer your door remotely, with built-in two-way audio and a 1080p HD camera with 135° horizontal and 80° vertical viewing angles. Video is captured at up to 30 fps, and an infrared camera lets you view your front door in the dark. The device can send you phone notifications when motion is detected or when the doorbell is pressed.
You can connect the doorbell to existing wiring or use the gadget wirelessly. If you set up the device wirelessly, you can buy the Blink Mini camera to use as an indoor plug-in chime. The Blink Video Doorbell is compatible with Amazon Alexa, allowing you to control the device using voice commands. You can alter your privacy settings and set custom alerts, ensuring you are only notified for the movements you want; custom alerts are only possible when the device is wired or through a Sync Module.
The device measures 130 x 42 x 34 mm (~5.1 x 1.7 x 1.3-in), weighs 91 g (~3.2 oz) and is powered by two AA batteries, which should last up to two years. You can now buy the Amazon Blink Video Doorbell for US$49.99. The Video Doorbell Full System, including the Sync Module 2, is currently available for the discounted price of US$59.98, a US$25 saving off the US$84.98 retail price.
