MECOOL KP1: 1080p projector with Android 11 on Android TV support launches for US$349
MECOOL has unveiled the KP1, a smart projector that features Android 11 on Android TV. Powered by a MECOOL KD5 streaming stick, the MECOOL KP1 measures 234 x 211 x 87.5 mm and weighs 2.3 kg. As MECOOL's marketing images show, the KD5 streaming stick plugs directly into the KP1 projector via a hidden HDMI port.
For reference, the MEOOL KD5 has an Amlogic S805X2 SoC with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU and a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. Also, the streaming stick has 1 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 8 GB of eMMC flash storage, plus Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI 1.4 and dual-band WiFi 5 connectivity. Incidentally, the MECOOL KP1 has three HDMI ports, an AV port, a 3.5 mm jack, a 5 W speaker and 2 IR receivers.
Moreover, the MECOOL KP1 outputs at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels at 700 ANSI Lumens. Reportedly, the projector can create between 45-inch and 240-inch images with a throw ratio of 1.3. Additionally, the projector's LED should last up to 30,000 hours, although it only offers manual focus and three-stage keystone correction.
Still, the MECOOL KD5 brings HDR10+ and AV1 decoding at 60 FPS. Currently, the MECOOL KP1 is orderable with the MECOOL KD5 for US$349. MECOOL states that the projector should begin shipping within the next five days; the company offers EU, UK and US plug types too.
