Philips Screeneo U4: Ultra-short-throw projector launches at a 50% discount
Philips has brought the Screeneo U4 to Indiegogo, having revealed the ultra-short-throw projector in February. As we covered at the time, the Screeneo U4 offers a 0.25:1 throw ratio, allowing you to place the projector 7.7-inches from a wall and still create a 60-inch projection. Alternatively, placing the projector 12-inches away will yield an 80-inch image.
According to Philips, the Screeneo U4 supports 'True' 1080p, plus HDR10 and XPR technology. However, the DLP projector peaks at 60 Hz, as well as offering 30 ms response times with a peak 60 Hz refresh rate. Also, the Screeneo U4 outputs at up to 400 nits with 108% Rec.709 colour space coverage. Incidentally, Philips includes autofocus, auto-keystone, 4-corner correction and an LED light source that should last up to 30,000 hours.
Furthermore, Philips has equipped the Screeneo U4 with an Amlogic T972 SoC, along with two HDMI ports, a USB Type-A connection, a 3.5 mm jack and twin 15 W speakers. For some reason, Philips states that the projector has HDMI 2.0 ports in some materials and HDMI 2.1 ports in others. Currently, the Screeneo U4 is orderable on Indiegogo for €599, with shipping estimated for August 2022. Supposedly, Philips is offering the Screeneo U4 at a 50% discount during its Indiegogo campaign, which ends in 31 days' time. You can read more about the Philips Screeneo U4 on Philips' Indiegogo page.
