Tiny Mimono portable projector with legs and a tail is now crowdfunding
The Mimono Laser Projector is now crowdfunding via Kickstarter. The portable gadget has a patented five-laser color tube light source with a 20,000-hour life expectancy and up to 120 lumens brightness. You can use the 1080p projector to throw images from 2 to 150-in (~5 to 381 cm) wide with a 1.37 throw ratio. You can quickly perfect the image with an autofocus tool, and the device can run for up to four hours on a single charge using the built-in 4,000 mAh battery.
The Mimono projector has an auto shutdown tool, triggered after three minutes of inactivity, helping to conserve energy. Plus, the company claims the gadget is almost silent thanks to the patented fan-free heat dissipation technology. You can use the Mimono projector with Apple TV, Fire TV, Google Chromecast and Xiaomi TV. You can also connect various Windows, macOS, Android and iOS gadgets via Bluetooth, with ports including HDMI and USB-C. The device comes with a six ft HDMI cable and USB-A to USB-C cable.
The gadget has an unusual body with four bendable copper legs and a tail, all encased in silicone. Based on your setup, you can use the limbs to adjust the projector’s height and position. For example, the company suggests using the legs to sit the projector in a tree for an outdoor cinema experience. Plus, the projector intelligently recognises when the device has been flipped upside and automatically flips the screen. You can pledge US$679 to the Kickstarter campaign to receive the Mimono Laser Projector, which will typically retail for US$799. The company expects the first 2,000 units to ship on August 5.
