The eufy S220 SoloCam has been launched in the UK and Germany, following a US release earlier this year. The 2K camera from the Anker subsidiary has a 135-degree field of view with two-way audio. The device has infrared LEDs and an f/1.6 aperture, making viewing footage captured at night easier.
The security camera features solar charging with a built-in 0.9W solar panel. The panel can capture up to 400mAh solar energy, meaning around three hours of sunshine is sufficient to power the gadget for a day. An AI human detection feature can send tailored alerts to your phone, and connection to the HomeBase 3 enables you to save names with the faces, so your camera will recognise them again. Eufy promises that this is a one-time purchase without the need for any subscriptions. The device has 8GB local storage, which can be expanded to 16TB using the HomeBase 3. Plus, the camera supports Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice commands.
The camera is wireless, making it relatively easy to install, with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity. The gadget measures 97 x 80.5 x 57.5 mm (~3.82 x 3.17 x 2.26-in) and weighs around 1.5 lbs (~320 g). The eufy S220 SoloCam retails for £119.99 in the UK and €129.99 in Germany. Due to high demand, you can currently pre-order the eufy S220 SoloCam in the US for US$129.99 directly from the company, with the item expected to ship at the end of June. However, the gadget appears to be available at Amazon.
