Computex 2023 | MSI Commercial 14: New business laptop offering alongside upcoming Summit Flip, Prestige, and Modern Series

MSI has traditionally offered the Summit series along with the Prestige and Modern series as part of its business and productivity laptop lineup. At Computex, the company is showcasing a new entrant to this category called the Commercial 14. Thus, MSI will offer a total of four product lines in its 2023 business and productivity lineup viz. the Summit Flip, Prestige, Commercial, and Modern Series.

MSI did not reveal much about the Commercial 14's actual specifications — the specs placed alongside the laptop only read "latest Intel Core i7" and a 14-inch 16:10 FHD+ display — once again hinting this could be a Meteor Lake device.

The Commercial 14 is based on the Intel Evo platform and is Microsoft Secured-Core PC-compliant at the BIOS level while also offering discrete TPM, Intel vPro, Windows Hello, and an optional Smart Card reader and NFC — all of which should please IT admins.

MSI said that it has addressed four key pain points that bother commercial customers — port selection, battery life, noisy fans, and unexpected accidents.

Accordingly, the Commercial 14 offers Thunderbolt 4 with power delivery and DisplayPort 1.4, an SD card reader, HDMI, 3x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, Gigabit Ethernet, and a combo audio jack. MSI said that the laptop's Side Vent technology is optimized to keep the temperatures in check while helping the device operate virtually silently in most typical workloads.

MSI is also bundling its suite of Advanced Video Conference Total Solution, which is a mix of a HDR webcam, directional mics, and the MSI Meeting Helper, which aids presentations on Zoom or Teams.

The company hasn't specified an exact release date or pricing information for the Commercial 14, but we expect a Q4 2023 release timed alongside Intel's Meteor Lake announcement.
