MSI asserts that its entry-level lifestyle/business laptops are as 'Modern' in terms of finish options as they are in terms of either Intel or AMD processors in 2023. The series' single Ryzen 7 7730U-powered variant can be had in Classic Black, whereas some of its Core i5-1335U-based siblings move on to Star Blue or Beige Rose. They have been released to markets such as Germany, starting for less than US$1,000.
MSI's latest incursion into typical MacBook Air territory underpins that comparison with similar colorway options and 14- or 15-inch options. They are applied to MIL-STD-810G-rated packages for FHD displays, keyboards with white LED backlighting (and a numberpad in the new B13M SKU) and Wi-Fi 6/6E connectivity.
However, neither updated Modern 14 or 15 variant boasts a Thunderbolt port, not even in the Core i5-1335U-powered B13M or C13M, preferring to fall back on a 3.2 type-C port with DisplayPort and USB-PD charging at best. Those 15- and 14-inch variants are offered in Star Blue and Classic Black or Urban Silver and Beige Rose respectively.
The 14 C7M is the series' latest and only Ryzen alternative, and comes in Classic Black. The MSI Modern (2023) laptops are already trading on their looks on the OEM's European webstore starting at €799 (~US$868) for the B13M with Windows 11 Pro. They have also begun to appear on Amazon: for example, the C7M is currently listed there with Windows 11 Home for the same price.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
