Microsoft introduces AI-powered buying tools to Bing and Edge
Artificial intelligence is popping up everywhere these days, and Microsoft is among those leading the AI-powered charge. The company announced today new AI tools integrated into the Bing search engine designed to make online shopping easier for consumers.
The headline product is Buying Guide, a new tool that aims to "do the research for you" when shopping online. Buying Guide will offer product suggestions based on search terms, such as "college supplies." Buying Guides pulls similar products from various online storefronts and plops them into a tailored table for quick comparison.
Bing's new shopping AI can also make suggestions for what factors of a product to consider, such as how a pair of headphones may fit or what devices it works well with. To this end, Bing Chat can summarize a set of reviews covering a specific product and look at "top insights," according to Microsoft.
Bing also includes improved price-matching tools. In addition to scouring the sales prices of a product from various vendors, Bing's Price Match can help consumers request a price match, even after the product has already been purchased. Bing Chat is able to review the price matching policies of "top U.S. retailers" to help buyers submit a price match request that fits a seller's price match rules.
Bing will also display coupon codes and tracking information in the Edge sidebar.
The Buying Guide tool rolls out today and is also accessible through the sidebar in Microsoft Edge or via Bing Chat.
