Leica is now selling the Cine 1, almost a year after it started teasing the ultra-short throw projector series. The Leica Cine 1 series comes in three variants, all with Summicron lenses. The new projectors should receive a global release later this year but are now orderable in Europe.

Leica has started selling the Cine 1, an ultra-short throw projector with a Leica Summicron lens that it teased in August 2022. Subsequently showcased at IFA 2022 a month later, the Cine 1 was originally slated to come in 80-inch and 100-inch variants. However, Leica has since expanded the Cine 1 to accommodate a model capable of creating 120-inch projections. For reference, Leica created the Cine 1 series in collaboration with Hisense, which remains a market leader of ultra-short throw projectors and laser TVs.

According to Leica, all models deliver 3,000 ANSI lumens peak brightness and have a 0.25 throw ratio. Additionally, while the trio output at 4K, they do not so natively. Instead, the Cine 1 series are DLP projectors and rely on Expanded Pixel Resolution (XPR) to upscale from 1080p native. All are 60 Hz projectors, too. Elsewhere, the Cine 1 series offers Dolby Vision, Filmmaker mode, HLG and HDR10+ support, as well as full BT.2020 colour space coverage. Leica adds that its triple RGB laser array should last up to 25,000 hours of usage.

Leica only sells the Cine 1 in Europe for now, where it starts at €6,995 for its 80-inch edition. The company hopes to bring the projector series to the UK in August and to Australia, China, New Zealand, Qatar, the UAE and the US a month later. Please note that the Leica Cine 1 will not be available in Africa, South America or other Asian countries. While Leica has not confirmed pricing for other regions yet, the Cine 1 100-inch and 120-inch are available in Europe for €8,495 and €8,999, respectively.
