ViewSonic X2-4K: US pricing and release window announced for new 4K projector

ViewSonic has now confirmed US launch pricing for the X2-4K, one of two projectors that the company debuted earlier this year. To recap, the X2-4K arrived in March alongside the X1-4K. In short, the X1-4K and X2-4K share many of the same features, although the latter gets brighter than the former. Specifically, the X2-4K peaks at 2,900 Lumens and can create 60-inch to 120-inch projections when placed between 0.92-2.2 metres away from a wall or projector screen.

The X2-4K also carries a 'Designed for Xbox' designation, which ViewSonic asserts allows it to provide the 'ultimate gaming experience'. The inclusion of HDMI 2.0 ports suggests otherwise though, and limits the X2-4K to 60 Hz gaming at 4K. Alternatively, the X2-4K can drop to 1440p/144 Hz and 1080p/240 Hz with 4.2 ms input latency. Unfortunately, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles peak at 120 Hz, even at lower resolutions.

Initially, ViewSonic released both projectors in the UK and indicated that they would be available in other markets in Q2 2023. Now, ViewSonic has outlined that the X2-4K will miss its original estimate, as will the X1-4K by extension. Instead, ViewSonic now hopes to offer the X2-4K in the US from July 2023 for US$1,599.
