Dell Alienware AW2724HF: 1080p and 360 Hz gaming monitor launches with 0.5 ms response times
Dell has introduced the Alienware AW2724HF, the more expensive but lower resolution alternative to the Alienware AW2724DM. Specifically, the Alienware AW2724HF has a 1080p native resolution (1,920 x 1,080), which correlates to an 82 PPI pixel density across its 27-inch (26.96-inch viewable) panel. The Fast IPS panel also delivers up to a 360 Hz refresh rate, but only when connected to a device via its two DisplayPort 1.4 connections. Conversely, the monitor's HDMI 1.4 port (HDCP 1.4) peaks at 255 Hz.
Additionally, the monitor produces 400 nits peak brightness, is HDR10 compatible, covers 99% of the sRGB colour space and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. According to Dell, the Alienware AW2724HF supports 0.5 ms response times (GtG) too, as well as AMD FreeSync Premium and VESA Adaptive-Sync to mitigate image tearing. Moreover, Dell has included a height, pivot, swivel and tilt adjustable stand, plus a 100 x 100 mm VESA mount should you prefer to use a third-party stand.
Dell also installs four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A downstream ports and a USB Type-B upstream port. It is worth noting that the monitor comes in a sole dark finish, which Dell describes as 'Dark Side of the Moon'. The Alienware AW2724HF is orderable in the US for US$459.99 from Dell's online shop. Alternatively, the gaming monitor retails for €488.99.
