Anbernic Win701: Video of working prototype leaks for future high-end gaming handheld with AMD Ryzen 7 7840U APU
It seems that Anbernic is preparing to release another gaming handheld, having already introduced the RG Nano, RG353PS, RG405M and RG35XX this year alone. According to various sources, Anbernic is finalising the Win701, which was first seen over three months ago through a patent filing. While the Win701 is expected to replace the Win600, there will be little linking the two devices.
To recap, Anbernic sells the Win600 with the AMD Athlon Silver 3020e and Athlon Silver 3050e, a pair of APUs with Zen CPU cores, 6 W TDPs and Radeon RX Vega 3 iGPUs. Also, Anbernic equipped the Win600 with a 5.94-inch display and upgradeable RAM, among other features. By contrast, Anbernic is rumoured to have based the Win701 around the Ryzen 7 7840U, which has fast become the APU of choice for premium gaming handhelds. Available in several gaming handhelds like the AYA NEO 2S and AOKZOE A1 Pro, the Ryzen 7 7840U combines 8 Zen 4 CPU cores with a Radeon 780M iGPU.
In other words, the Anbernic Win701 should be capable of playing modern triple-A titles at 1080p with low/medium quality settings. Reportedly, Anbernic will complement the powerful APU with a 7-inch display, resolution and refresh rate unknown. Moreover, the Win701 has a 38 Wh battery, an M.2 2280 slot and an M.2 2230 slot for a modem. Seemingly, the device lacks upgradeable RAM, though. There is no word on a launch date or pricing yet, although the appearance of a working prototype implies that the device is edging towards mass production and release.
