IKEA VALLHORN Motion Sensor and PARASOLL Open/Close Sensor revealed
The IKEA VALLHORN Motion Sensor and PARASOLL Open/Close Sensor have appeared in FCC filings. Two AAA batteries power the IKEA VALLHORN Motion Sensor, which measures 70.45 mm x 70.45 mm (~2.77 x 2.77-in). The drawing of the new product notes that it is rated as IP44 water and dust resistant, meaning it can withstand minor splashes.
It is unclear how the VALLHORN gadget would differ from the existing TRÅDFRI Wireless motion detector, which you can use to trigger smart lights in your home. The IKEA PARASOLL Open/Close Sensor has been designed to notify you if a window or door is opened. Again, the device is powered by a AAA battery and would be fixed in place using a screw or an adhesive strip. It is unclear whether IKEA intends the gadget to be used with a smart thermostat, alerting you if you try to turn on a radiator when the windows are open or to alert you of a potential intruder.
Both gadgets are thought to be compatible with the IKEA Home Smart system, with app-based controls. Notably, IKEA is working with IoT specialist Leedarson to produce these two new devices. It is unclear precisely when the IKEA VALLHORN Motion Sensor and IKEA PARASOLL Open/Close Sensor will arrive or how much they will cost.
