MagyarKia EV6 GT: Pre-order campaign launching in China for crossover with ultra-fast charging battery
The Kia EV6 GT will shortly be available to pre-order in China. From June 28, customers can order the EV for 339,900 yuan (~US$46,963); it is unclear precisely when deliveries will begin. Kia notes on Weibo that only 1,000 units of the EV6 GT crossover will be available at this time, with the official launch in August.
The EV6 GT has a 0 to 62 mph (~100 km) acceleration time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 162 mph (~260 kph). The EV is based on Kia’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), with the all-electric drivetrain delivering 577 bhp and up to 740 Nm torque. An 800V fast-charging battery provides up to 263 miles (~423 km) of range, recharging from 10 to 80% in 18 minutes. Other features include a GT Mode for a customized driving experience, performance brakes and enhanced suspension.
Earlier this year, Kia announced that it planned to bring several EVs to the Chinese market, naming the EV6 as its first offering. The brand also plans to launch the EV5 in the country later in the year, with the EV9 following in 2024. Overall, the company hopes to sell 450,000 units in China by 2030. The award-winning EV6 GT is already available in other countries worldwide, including the US, where it retails for US$61,600.
