Xgimi Horizon Pro 4K projector tested: Between great image quality and Google absurdity
Unlike the Full HD model of the Xgimi Horizon, the Pro version we recently reviewed is capable of projecting sharp 4K images. But we were quite annoyed by the need to use Google during the initial setup.

Yes, the Xgimi Horizon Pro managed to deliver very clear and sharp 4K images on our screen during our in-depth hands-on review. It is also true that its undeniably great image quality is certainly still the most important thing for a projector. However, in order to get there, we've had to get over our privacy concerns and survive a long-winded initial setup process that forced us to use Google.

Other than the initial setup, though, the projector's automatic features actually allowed us to start enjoying a great viewing experience very quickly and effortlessly. Every time the Horizon Pro boots up, it automatically adjusts the image through keystone correction and skilfully fine-tunes the focus on its own.

But this compact cuboid-shaped projector is not a product for those who cherish data privacy: you can't do anything without an Internet connection and Google. In our in-depth review, we've provided a detailed account of the setup process, including the need to connect to the Internet and use Android. You won't be able to use the Horizon Pro without Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable at your disposal. Although we had both on hand, the projector simply refused to connect to our Wi-Fi network on the first day we tested it.

Similarly, logging in to Android or Google is anything but optional. Even if you just want to connect your Blu-ray player or PC to the device, Internet access and Google login are still mandatory. But if you can put up with all that, you'll find yourself with a very well-spec'd projector offering great image quality. Head on over to our review for all the information you need on the Xgimi Horizon Pro.
