Garmin Beta 15.09 for Forerunner 255 with wrist-based running dynamics has just arrived
Garmin has issued the Beta 15.09 software for the Forerunner 255 Music smartwatch. The company noted that the update was currently only available for the Music model of the Forerunner 255 as the update needed to be installed OTA, a feature only available on this edition of the smartwatch. Garmin stated that this was a pre-rollout release, suggesting it could soon reach the other versions of the watch.
Beta 15.09, also available for the Forerunner 955, adds the new wrist-based running dynamics tool to the smartwatch. The tool enables you to collect data such as cadence, vertical oscillation and stride length without needing the Garmin Running Dynamics Pod or a heart rate chest strap. Other new features include cycling-related workout suggestions, wrist-measured heart rate to estimate calories burned while swimming, and support for sleep schedules.
The new software fixes several bugs, such as skipped workout steps in a Track Run and miscalculated total distances in workouts. Also resolved are issues with the training page layout and auto-pause not working for certain winter sports. The full changelog for Beta 15.09 for the Forerunner 255 can be found here. Owners of eligible Garmin Forerunner 255 Music smartwatches can download the updates from the System menu in the gadget’s Settings.
