Garmin has released Beta Version 12.09 for the Instinct 2 and Instinct Crossover smartwatches. As with update 25.76 for Instinct 2 smartwatches, the new software adds an Obstacle Course Racing activity. It improves the algorithm used to count the number of calories burned while swimming and enhances voice prompts, which are played during various activities. Alongside the new activities and improvements, Garmin has fixed many issues.
For example, a bug which triggered an abnormally high heart rate alert when you tried to share your heart rate data from the Instinct smartwatch has been fixed, as well as a problem which meant the Track Run alert distance could not be shown in meters. Other issues relating to location saving in the Fish activity, the Power Mode Auto Enable setting and an Edit Reps prompt during a Strength activity have been resolved. An accidental eight-timer limit has also been removed.
Plus, a couple of problems which affected only the Crossover models have been solved. These were issues where Garmin Morning Report did not allow you to view calendar event details and the position of the location data field. It is worth noting that this Beta update will not be pushed to eligible smartwatches; instead, you need to load the new software manually. After you have updated to version 12.09, you must clear your Debug folder for crash logs to auto-generate. You can join the recently simplified Garmin Beta program via Garmin Connect.
