Garmin Instinct 2X Tactical leaks as new smartwatch in various official images
Roland Quandt has leaked promotional images of another Instinct 2X series smartwatch, a few days after sharing images of the Instinct 2X Solar. Now, Quandt has returned with Instinct 2X Tactical, which directly succeeds its predecessor. Unsurprisingly, the forthcoming smartwatch retains its predecessor's rugged design, as well as its MIL-STD 810 certification and 10 ATM water resistance.
Additionally, the Instinct 2X Tactical also has the same five physical buttons as Instinct 2 series smartwatches. As the images below show, Garmin has included 'CTRL' 'MENU' and 'ABC' buttons on one side, and 'GPS' and 'SET' on the other. Garmin has tweaked the design somewhat though, with exposed case screws and built-in torch functionality.
Moreover, the Instinct 2X Tactical will support Solar charging for extended battery life. Unfortunately, a release date has not emerged yet, nor has pricing. Based on recent Garmin releases, the Instinct 2X series could be more expensive than its predecessors. For example, the Forerunner 965 costs US$100 and €100 more than the Forerunner 955. A similar price gap exists between the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 265 too.
