Xiaomi has now released the first smartphone powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset. To recap, Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 at the start of the week. Shortly afterwards, Motorola confirmed that the Moto X50 Ultra would feature the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, as did Xiaomi with the CIVI 4 Pro. Additionally, the latter hinted that the same chipset would help kick off a new Redmi series, while Vivo teased that it would also offer the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in a future iQOO Z9 series smartphone.
According to Xiaomi's product page, the CIVI 4 Pro integrates a 6.55-inch display, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, a 4,700 mAh battery and five cameras within a 157.2 x 72.7 x 7.45~7.75 mm housing depending on the colour option chosen. Moreover, the CIVI 4 Pro is said to weigh between 179.3 g and 180.9 g, which makes the device marginally heavier than the CIVI 3. At any rate, the mid-sized display outputs at 1,236 x 2,750 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 3,000 nits peak brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 coverage. Furthermore, the CIVI 4 Pro features the following cameras:
- 50 MP primary - Light Hunter 800 sensor, f/1.63 aperture, 2.0 μm fusion pixel width, OIS, Leica Optics Summilux Lens
- 50 MP portrait - f/1.98 aperture, 50 mm equivalent focal length, autofocus
- 12 MP ultra-wide-angle - f/2.2. aperture, 1.12 μm pixel width
- 32 MP front-facing - 26 mm equivalent focal length, f/2.0 aperture, 1.6 μm fusion pixel width
- 32 MP front-facing - f/2.4 aperture, 100° field of view
Unfortunately, the company has not hinted at the CIVI 4 Pro's availability outside China. Based on previous releases, the handset may end up as a 'Lite' branded smartphone globally, although it is unclear when that will occur. For reference, the CIVI 4 Pro costs as follows in Xiaomi's home market:
- 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage - CNY 2,999 (~$417)
- 12 GB RAM/512 GB storage - CNY 3,299 (~$458)
- 16 GB RAM/512 GB storage (incl. limited edition colours) - CNY 3,599 (~$500)
