Qualcomm has revealed the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a newer but less powerful alternative to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Not only has Qualcomm confirmed key performance differences between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, but has it also confirmed from when Honor, iQOO, Realme, Redmi and Xiaomi smartphones should be arriving.

Qualcomm has introduced yet another Snapdragon 8 series chipset, less than six months after presenting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In previous years Qualcomm has tended to release overclocked mid-generation refreshes like the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. This year however, the company has decided to introduce a trimmed down version of its current flagship offering called the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

For reference, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 carries the part number SM8635, compared to SM8550-AB and SM8650-AB for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, respectively. As their part numbers suggest, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 inherits many Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 features, including its a 4 nm TSMC manufacturing process. With that being said, Qualcomm bills the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 ias sitting below the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in its product stack, mirroring last September's Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 announcement.

According to Qualcomm, it has developed the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 to allow the creation of $500-$800 flagships. Additionally, Qualcomm states that Honor, iQOO, Realme and Xiaomi will begin unveiling Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 devices later this month, adding that the latter has developed Redmi and Xiaomi-branded products. Unfortunately, Qualcomm elected against revealing any product names, nor have any of its OEM partners yet. Please see our table below for an overview of how the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 stacks up against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
