New Motorola Edge smartphone announced with Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset to rival OnePlus Nord CE 4
Over the last few weeks, details about various forthcoming Motorola smartphones have surfaced online, most not from the company itself. On the one hand, Motorola shared its first teasers for the Moto X50 Ultra, the presumed successor to the Moto X40. On the other hand, various sources have leaked information about the Edge 50 Pro and the Edge 50 Fusion, which are expected to launch later this year with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipsets, respectively.
Now, Motorola has outlined what appears to be a completely different smartphone altogether. So far, it has only been confirmed that the device will be sold under its Edge series, evidence of which we have embedded below. Additionally, this unnamed Edge smartphone will showcase the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, a 4 nm chipset that will also power the OnePlus Nord CE 4. Based on recent Edge 50 Pro and the Edge 50 Fusion rumours, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3-powered handset would likely sit between these pair, presumably as the regular Edge 50.
Officially, Motorola has now revealed when it will fully unveil its next Edge smartphone. With that being said, GSMArena received confirmation privately from the company that it had lined up March 3 to 'witness the fusion of art and intelligence'. Given that Motorola's public teasers mention 'art' and 'intelligence' too, it would seem that the two are linked. Thus, Motorola's first Edge refresh of 2024 will arrive two days after the OnePlus Nord CE 4, with which it shares the same chipset.
