It seems that Xiaomi is continuing to develop the POCO C61 as a Redmi A3 alternative, even after bringing the latter to more markets. While Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the POCO C61 yet, more evidence of the device's existence has now surfaced online.

Xiaomi has just released the Redmi A3 in Europe, pricing and details of which we have covered separately. However, it seems that the company still intends to introduce a spin-off by the name of 'POCO C61'. To recap, the unreleased device has been seen previously on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Bluetooth SIG databases associated with the model number 2312BPC51H, which is closely aligned to the Redmi A3's model number 23129RN51H.

Now, MySmartPrice has spotted the POCO C61 on a database that collates the list of devices supported by Google Play. As the screenshot below shows, the POCO C61 is again linked to 2312BPC51H, as well as the codename 'blue'. Incidentally, the same database reveals that Xiaomi has developed the Redmi A3 under the same codename, albeit with 23129RN51H, 23129RN51X and 2312CRNCCL model numbers.

In other words, the POCO C61 will likely feature the same underlying hardware as the Redmi A3, which includes a MediaTek Helio G36 chipset and a 5,000 mAh battery. Presumably, Xiaomi will visually distinguish the pair in a few areas, although the POCO C61 may well maintain the Redmi A3's 6.71-inch and 90 Hz display Please see our Redmi A3 launch article for more hardware details.
