Unisoc T616-powered Oscal Modern 8 smartphone debuts starting below $100
Oscal introduces a new lineup of low-end smartphones, although some of the specs are impressive given the price rage. The first member of this handset family is the Modern 8, a 6.75-inch smartphone with a generous 6,000 mAh battery and 18 W fast charging. This piece of hardware uses the entry level octa-core Unisoc T616 processor. Between March 18th and March 27th, those interested can take advantage of the early bird 52% discount, which will be provided via AliExpress.
In addition to the specs mentioned above, the highlights that should be mentioned include a 285,000 AnTuTu score, 8 GB of memory, 128 GB or 256 GB internal storage, microSD support up to 1 TB, a 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1-based main camera alongside a Samsung ISOCELL 4H7-equipped selfie snapper with 8 MP. The large IPS display has 1600 X 720 pixels, 450 nits brightness, and a 90 Hz refresh. The rear camera, unveiled by Samsung back in mid-2021, sports a 1/2.76-inch sensor and a 0.64μm-pixel size. In terms of connectivity, the basics are present, but NFC or 5G connectivity are nowhere to be found.
According to Oscal, the integrated cooling system of this handset can keep it below 39 Celsius in CPU-intensive games. The battery mentioned earlier can last up to 744 hours in standby and can tackle gaming sessions up to 8 hours long on a full charge. The DokeOS 4.0 mobile operating system is based on Google Android 13.
Oscal Modern 8 comes in three colors, namely Wisteria Purple, Ripple Blue and Ash Grey. The introductory prices are $95.99 (8/128 GB) and $108.21 (8/256 GB). However, depending on the additional local taxes that might apply, these prices may vary.
