Motorola announces new flagship smartphone with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset and triple cameras
Motorola has become one of the first Android OEM to reveal a smartphone powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. Announced earlier today, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is slated as providing a flagship experience while hitting a lower price point than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Nonetheless, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 will power the successor to the Moto X40, which arrived in late 2022 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
As expected, Motorola will replace the Moto X40 with the Moto X50 Ultra, initial teasers for which the company published at the start of the month. Currently, Motorola has only confirmed that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 will underpin the Moto X50 Ultra. However, this has been ample evidence to suggest that the Moto X50 Ultra will launch outside China as the Edge 50 Pro and Edge Plus 2024.
To that end, Motorola has now shared numerous details about the Edge 50 Pro before its Indian release. Although it has not divulged a release date yet, it has confirmed specifications like a 6.7-inch pOLED display that operates at 144 Hz, 1.5K and at up to 2,000 nits. Additionally, Motorola has offered a few hints about the device's camera hardware, evidence of which we have embedded below.
