Xiaomi releases new 4G cheap smartphone in Europe running Android 14
The Redmi A3 has quietly arrived in Europe, not long after its debut in India. For context, there have been rumours that the POCO C61 would serve as a Redmi A3 spin-off in other markets, which could well be still the case. Potentially, Xiaomi could offer the pair side-by-side, although it has not officially commented on the existence of the POCO C61 yet.
At any rate, the Redmi A3 starts at €119.90 in Europe, for which Xiaomi includes 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Alternatively, the handset can be picked up to with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage but for a €20 surcharge over its entry-level memory configuration. It is worth noting that while Xiaomi lists the Redmi A3 as being available in Forest Green, Midnight Black and Star Blue colour options, you cannot initially purchase the handset in Midnight Black with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Instead, Xiaomi limits this colour option to the cheaper 3 GB of RAM of 64 GB of storage option.
As such, it is only possible to pick up the Redmi A3 with its higher memory configuration in Forest Green and Star Blue colour options. For reference, all SKUs will be offered two major OS upgrades from Android 14 and three years of security patch updates until early 2027. Hardware-wise, the Redmi A3 that Xiaomi sells in Europe is identical to its Indian counterpart. Hence, a MediaTek Helio G36 chipset underpins the 168.4 x 76.3 x 8.3 mm device, as does a 5,000 mAh battery; please see our original launch article for more hardware details.
