Vivo X Fold3 revealed to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 16 GB of RAM before rumoured global launch
The Vivo X Fold3 has now stopped by Geekbench on its way to being released. For context, the X Fold3 is rumoured to launch later this month alongside the X Fold3 Pro. While Vivo has not commented on either smartphone yet, it appeared to authorise the publication of photos shot with the X Fold3 Pro by the Xinhua News Agency.
As earlier rumours suggested, the X Fold3 sports the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC as the X Fold2. However, Vivo has equipped the newer model with 16 GB of RAM, a 4 GB increase over the 12 GB of RAM in which the X Fold2 is available. Unsurprisingly, the X Fold3 is running Android 14, over which Vivo adds its OriginOS 4 UI.
In short, the scores shown below indicate that the X Fold2 will perform slightly better than average for a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered smartphone. Specifically, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 averages 2,006 and 5,198 in Geekbench 6.2 single-core and multi-core benchmarks, respectively. By contrast, the X Fold3 averages 2,023 and 5,398 in the same benchmarks, which represent 0.85% and 3.85% performance uplifts.
Nonetheless, the X Fold3 cannot compete with the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 smartphones we have tested, such as the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 and Nubia RedMagic 8S Pro. Currently, the X Fold3 is expected to debut on March 26 in China. A global launch is also rumoured though, which would be a first for the X Fold series.
