Garmin Forerunner 255 receives new stable update with bug fix
A new public update, version 18.23, has rolled out for the Garmin Forerunner 255 smartwatch. The company acknowledged the latest software in a forum post, stating that it had been issued to address a problem flagged by customers. The new software comes shortly after version 18.22, which arrived earlier this month, and was released without beta testing.
Some Forerunner 255 smartwatch users recently flagged a problem with the Track Run profile, which could cause the wearable to crash or reboot. This bug is fixed with software version 18.23, which Garmin describes as a hotfix, and is also rolling out to the Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955, and Forerunner 965 smartwatches. Unfortunately, multiple users reported a fresh issue with the update to version 18.23, with lost audio prompts. However, rebooting the connected phone appears to resolve this problem.
Garmin confirmed that the rollout was complete, meaning all customers with wearables that support a Wi-Fi connection, like the Forerunner 255 Music, should have automatically received the update. Alternatively, the download can be manually triggered from the Menu > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. The Garmin Team has also suggested a workaround, with users advised to change the Sport before attempting to save the activity.
