One of Garmin's last-generation high-end smartwatches has received a new software update. Arriving as a hotfix on the company's stable software distribution channel, Software Version 18.23 aims to resolve a crash that Garmin claims to only have occurred in rare situations.

Earlier this month, Garmin released a major new update for the Forerunner 955. As we discussed at the time, Software Version 18.22 furnished Garmin's older flagship smartwatch with various bug fixes and new features, including a new automatic workout detection tool. Seemingly, the update rounded off 18.xx development, the public beta testing for which began in at the start of the year.

However, Garmin has now pushed out a fresh update for the Forerunner 955, which the company describes as a hotfix in its forum post. As such, Software Version 18.23 contains far fewer changes than its predecessor. According to the company, Software Version 18.22 shipped with a bug that could cause some Forerunner 955 units to crash, which Software Version 18.23 resolves.

Specifically, only one improvement has been offered, which relates to Garmin's Track Run activity profile. Garmin adds that the rollout of Software Version 18.23 should now be complete. The update can be downloaded manually by heading to Menu, System, Software Update and then selecting Check For Updates though if your Forerunner 955 remains on Software Version 18.22 for some reason.
