Garmin pushes new beta version 15.03 OTA for smartwatches
The Garmin beta version 15.03 software for the Instinct 2 series smartwatches is now rolled out over the air (OTA). The update arrived for the Instinct 2, Instinct 2s, Instinct 2X, and Instinct Crossover wearables to sideload earlier this month. The Garmin team has since confirmed that all eligible watches should have automatically received the update via GCM or Garmin Express.
Beta update version 15.03 is relatively minor, with just one addition to the changelog relating to winter sports. Garmin says it has addressed a range of bugs and made improvements to the Ski and Snowboard activities, though it does not detail exactly what these changes are. Also included with the latest software is GPS Version 8.07 for the Instinct 2X and Instinct Crossover smartwatches; there are no changes for the other Instinct 2 models, which currently run on GPS Version 6.70.
It is unclear when Garmin plans to roll out a public version of its 15.xx cycle software, with update 14.12 arriving for all users several months ago. This also brought a variety of bug fixes, resolving issues with Team Sports, Heart Rate Zones and smart notifications. In the meantime, if you own a Garmin Instinct 2 series smartwatch and wish to join the beta program to trial the latest software before a public release, you can do so via Garmin Connect.
