Garmin has released a new stable update for the Instinct 2 series, including the Instinct Crossover. Rolling out as v14.12, the update marks the end of Garmin's beta program for this period and contains over a dozen changes for all eligible smartwatches.

Garmin has confirmed the culmination of its latest beta period for the Instinct 2 series, including the Instinct Crossover. To recap, Garmin omitted the Instinct 2 series from its stable update release at the start of the month. Instead, it delivered Beta Version 14.12 for the smartwatches a few days later with winter sports improvements.

Based on Garmin's various forum posts, it has now delivered v14.12 as a stable update across its Instinct 2 portfolio. Thus, the company's beta period ends with Beta Version 14.12 with no differences between it and v14.12. As far as we can tell, all eligible models have received the following changes with their latest stable update:

  • Removed the limitation on the number of points allowed in a course.
  • Updated Backcountry Ski/Snowboard data screens when using Automatic Mode Tracking.
  • Fixed issue that would prevent access to Team Sports activities.
  • Fixed issue that could cause Edge devices to crash when used as extended display.
  • Fixed issue where golf handicap would not display in Connect.
  • Fixed issue with Intensity Minutes Heart Rate Zones.
  • Fixed potential crash when using PacePro.
  • Fixed crash when replying to smart notifications.
  • Fixed Next Waypoint data field blank when using turn notifications.
  • Fixed Track Run GPS setting.
  • Fixed issue where Strength activity name could be truncated in GCM in German.
  • Fixed issue where pickleball and padel could not be accessed when Auto Cal is disabled.
  • Fixed cadence spikes during open water swimming activities.
  • Fixed potential issue where step totals would not reset at midnight.
  • Fixed various issues in Ski and Snowboard activities.

Additionally, Instinct 2 and Instinct 2S Surf SKUs should now show the Tides chart watch face properly. By contrast, the Instinct 2X has received five dedicated improvements, along with those listed above. After updating to v14.12, Instinct 2X smartwatches will be capable of using their torches in CIQ apps. Moreover, the new update contains bug fixes for battery estimates when the torch is switched on or toggled. On top of that, waypoint, cycling dynamics and running dynamics data fields are all fixed as of v14.12.
