Garmin has released Beta Version 14.12 for the Instinct 2, Instinct 2s, Instinct 2X and Instinct Crossover smartwatches. The new software has one addition compared to the last Beta update. The change log notes that Garmin has tackled issues relating to Ski and Snowboarding activities. Unfortunately, it does not detail precisely what it has fixed.
The longer list of amendments, containing all improvements made since the last public update, v13.21, also contains an upgrade for winter sports, with updated data screens for Backcountry Ski and Snowboard activities when in Automatic Tracking Mode. Also included are fixes for issues with access to Team Sports activities, problems leading to connected Edge devices crashing and a bug with Intensity Minutes Heart Rate Zones. Plus, Garmin has now removed the limitations of the number of course points allowed on the Instinct 2 series watches.
The update is available OTA via GCM, when you sync with Garmin Express, or you can manually side-load the latest software; all versions are identical. In its last forum post, the Garmin team notes that the update was rolled out to 30% of eligible wearables. If you own an Instinct 2 smartwatch and wish to join the Beta Program, you can do so via Garmin Connect.
