Garmin Forerunner 965: New v17.24 stable update arrives over a dozen changes
The Garmin Forerunner 965 is now eligible for a new stable software update. According to the company's forum post, v17.24 has a dozen-strong changelog, which introduces an inline skating mode and up-ahead voice prompts, among other changes.
The Forerunner 965 is one of various Garmin smartwatches to receive a new stable update, including the Fenix 7 series. Like the Forerunner 265, the Forerunner 965 has received v17.24, albeit with a different changelog. For reference, v17.24 may not be ready for your Forerunner 965 yet. Instead, Garmin is running a phased rollout, which has only reached 20% of smartwatches at the time of publication.
Nonetheless, it should be possible to start downloading v17.24 manually by going to Menu, then System, Software Update and selecting 'Check for Updates' on your Forerunner 965. Incidentally, the new stable update follows Beta Version 17.22, a Release Candidate build that debuted less than a week ago. However, we can find no evidence of Garmin ever publishing Beta Version 17.23 or an equivalent.
The full changelog for v17.24 is as follows. Currently, it is unclear when Garmin will begin distributing new beta builds, although we imagine that the Forerunner 965's new stable update concludes v17.xx builds. Please see Garmin's forum post for more details.
