The Garmin Forerunner 255 smartwatch is receiving software version 17.24. This new public update is available to all smartwatches, including features previously tested by customers signed up to the Beta program.
Software version 17.24 adds a Nap glance to the wearables, providing a quick overview of your rest. The Garmin change log lists new functionality for the Body Battery, though further details are not provided. Various team and racket sports activities have been added to the smartwatch alongside an inline skating option. Other additions include a large font mode and settings for Daily Summary, Stress Alerts and Rest Alerts, spotted on the Fenix 7 and Forerunner 265 smartwatches in November. Plus, smart notifications from a connected phone now have embedded images; however, Garmin notes that this is only available when the wearable is paired to an Android device.
Garmin has also improved two aspects of course navigation and provided various bug fixes and UI improvements. Many of these features were also added to the Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965 smartwatches with similar updates to 17.24 for each model. Garmin notes that software version 17.24 for the Forerunner 255 is being rolled out in phases; it remains to be seen what percentage of the wearables can now download and install the update.
