Redmi Watch 4: Xiaomi presents new HyperOS smartwatch with metal housing, GPS and large AMOLED display
Xiaomi has opened pre-orders for the Redmi Watch 4, a smartwatch that it presented earlier today in China. As expected, the company has not hinted at the device's global release yet. Nonetheless, the company is likely to offer the new smartwatch elsewhere at some stage, as will be the case with the new Redmi K70 series.
According to Xiaomi, the Redmi Watch 4 has an AMOLED display that measures 1.97-inches across and outputs at 450 x 390 pixels. Additionally, the display delivers up to 600 nits of brightness and is protected by a flat glass cover. Moreover, Xiaomi sets the large display within an aluminium alloy middle frame, which also has a stainless steel crown and is waterproof to 5 ATM.

Furthermore, the 47 mm smartwatch integrates a quick-release watch band system, much like the Apple Watch or Pixel Watch series. Unfortunately, this means that the Redmi Watch 4 is officially incompatible with conventional smartwatch straps. Elsewhere, Xiaomi has included a 470 mAh battery that it rates for up to 20 days of usage between charges, although not with the smartwatch's GNSS services activated.
Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi Watch 4 with Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC capabilities too, as well as over 150 sports modes and sensors to track key health metrics. Like the Watch S3, Xiaomi has pre-installed HyperOS, its in-house OS that can also be found in the Redmi K70 and Xiaomi 14 series. The Redmi Watch 4 retails for CNY 499 (~US$70) in China, undercutting the Watch S3 by CNY 300 (~US$42).
