Xiaomi has now revealed the Watch S3, one of two smartwatches that it has showcased today in China. For reference, the company has also used today's launch event to present the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro, which we have covered separately. On the face of it, the Watch S3 resembles its predecessors, including the Watch S1 Pro.
However, Xiaomi has brought the interchangeable bezels to the Watch S series, albeit without the elaborate mechanisms that Huawei employed with the Watch GT Cyber. Instead, the Watch S3 relies upon magnetics to keep its removable bezel in place. All Watch S3 models, including the eSIM model, have 47 mm case sizes, though.
According to Xiaomi, it has based the Watch S3 around a 1.43-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 466 x 466 pixels with a 326 PPI, a 60 Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak brightness. Additionally, Xiaomi has included a 12-channel heart rate sensor, dual-band GPS, an NFC chip and a 486 mAh battery that supposedly lasts up to 15 days between charges. While we suspect the latter claim is rather ambitious, battery life anywhere over a week implies that HyperOS does not have Wear OS at its core.
The Watch S3 starts in China for CNY 799 (~US$109) in silver or black finishes with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Alternatively, Xiaomi sells the eSIM variant for CNY 999 (~US$137), with the company charging between CNY 129 (~US$18) and CNY 249 (~US$34) for its interchangeable bezels and matching watch bands. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will release the Watch S3 globally.
