Huawei Watch GT 4 receives sleep and SpO2 improvements with new HarmonyOS 4 update
Huawei has pushed a significant update to the Watch GT 4, a month after its European and UK releases. To recap, the Watch GT 4 comes in 41 mm amd 46 mm sizes, both with AMOLED displays. Billed as a cheaper alternative to Huawei's Watch 4 series flagships, the Watch GT 4 also has dual-band GNSS and over a week of battery life, even for the smaller 41 mm variant.
According to Huawei Central, Huawei has now started pushing HarmonyOS 4.0.0.109 to its new smartwatches. Based on the screenshot below, Huawei's latest update for the Watch GT 4 series is a rather small one, with a total download size of 47.44 MB. Still, the update contains a few changes that should improve health monitoring in two areas.
Distributed as the October 2023 update, HarmonyOS 4.0.109 improves sleep tracking precision, albeit in an unspecified way. The same is true of SpO2 level monitoring, the accuracy of which Huawei also claims to have improved with HarmonyOS 4.0.0.109. As always, you must have your Huawei Health app updated before attempting to install HarmonyOS 4.0.0.109. Similarly, Huawei often rolls out new updates in batches, meaning that it could take a while before the update reaches your Watch GT 4.
