Suunto Race smartwatch with AMOLED display and 26 days battery life now available
The Suunto Race smartwatch has been launched. The wearable, designed for racing and training, is similar to its predecessor, the Suunto Vertical. The new model has a 1.43-in display with a 466 x 466 px resolution, while the older watch has a 1.4-in display with a lower 280 x 280 px resolution.
The Race’s AMOLED backlight provides up to 1,000 nits brightness, allowing you to read the watch clearly in sunnier conditions. You can use the watch to measure your heart rate variability (HRV) to monitor your recovery, and an AI coach can optimize your training and motivate you. Other tools include GPS tracking, race pacing apps, free offline maps to guide you during a race and over 95 sports modes to log a range of activities. The wearable has a lower runtime than the Vertical due to its lack of solar cells, offering 12 days of battery life with typical use.
In Performance Mode, the watch lasts up to 40 hours, and you can achieve 26 days of battery life if you switch off the HR sensor and choose not to log exercise. Other features include an always-on display, sleep tracking, and music controls, and the gadget is waterproof up to 100 m (~328 ft). You can now buy the Suunto Race smartwatch in All Black Stainless steel and Titanium Charcoal variations for US$449/£389/€449 and US$549/£479/€549, respectively. The new wearable is compatible with both iOS and Android smartphones.
