Xiaomi has unveiled the MiTu Children’s Phone Watch U1 Pro in China. The smartwatch has a range of features, including support for 4G, allowing you to message family and friends, and make video or voice calls via WeChat and QQ. Xiaomi suggests that parents can use the wearable to help keep their children safe with GPS tracking, triggering alerts on your smartphone when they arrive home or at school, or are entering an area that you designate as dangerous.
The U1 Pro smartwatch has various educational features, including the Xiao AI classmate voice assistant and a learning app with subjects like Chinese, maths and English. You can use the wearable to make contactless payments via WeChat or Alipay, with parents able to set a daily spending limit. Other features include activity monitoring via various sports modes, a calendar, a flashlight and an SOS emergency tool.
The watch has 4GB storage and a 950 mAh battery; Xiaomi does not indicate the average use time on a single charge. The wearable has a yellow bezel and strap, and is waterproof to 20m (~65.6 ft). The Xiaomi MiTu Children’s Phone Watch U1 Pro will retail in China for 999 yuan (~US$137). It is unclear whether or when the gadget could launch in other markets.
