Garmin releases new Beta 8.27 for Vivoactive 5 smartwatch
Garmin has released Public Beta version 8.27 for the Vivoactive smartwatch. The wearable, launched earlier this year, is a GPS watch that tracks exercise and biometrics and has a 1.2-inch AMOLED display. This new software arrives shortly after the last update, version 8.25.
The change log shared in the Garmin Forum shows four amendments, but only one is new: a fix for a bug that could prevent you from making EasyCard payments. The other three additions were included in the previous update, v8.25. These include adding new activities such as team sports and racket sports, and the Nap glance. Plus, you can now find a Workouts app in the activities list.
The update should be pushed to eligible smartwatches automatically, with GCM checking for the update daily. Alternatively, you can download software version 8.25 for your Vivoactive 5 smartwatch by going to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update. Garmin notes that the update may take several hours to be transferred and installed. The company asks that should you encounter any bugs, you report them in the relevant section of the forum. If you own a supported wearable like the Vivoactive 5, you can join the Beta Program via Garmin Connect.
