Two new Garmin smartwatches, the Fenix 7 Pro – Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi) and the Fenix 7X Pro – Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi), have arrived in North America. The models appeared to launch quietly earlier in November.
The Fenix 7 Pro and 7X Pro Solar Edition No Wi-Fi smartwatches are almost identical to the Wi-Fi-capable versions. However, they do not support Wi-Fi connectivity, removing tools such as Outdoor Maps+ subscription-based map content, TopoActive maps downloadable directly to the wearable and music via apps like Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music. Also missing from the No Wi-Fi wearables is the ECG app, which uses sensors to track signals relating to your heartbeat, potentially detecting signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib). As for the standard Fenix 7 Pro and 7X Pro Solar Edition models, the new watches come in Slate Gray with a Black Band.
Interestingly, the No Wi-Fi smartwatches retail for the same price as the Wi-Fi-enabled equivalents, though these are currently discounted. It could be that Garmin has released this Wi-Fi-free variant of the smartwatch for people working in secure facilities rather than as a way to reduce the cost of the entry-level model. You can now buy the Garmin Fenix 7 Pro – Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi) in the US and Canada for US$799.99/CA$1,079.99. The Fenix 7X Pro – Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi) retails for US$899.99/CA$1,219.99. It is unclear whether or when the new watches could be available in other regions.
