Garmin Health partners with Labfront to offer mental health research award worth US$1,750 in fitness trackers and software

Until November 21, 2023, medical researchers can apply for a US$1,750 award sponsored by Gamin Health and Labfront for use on studying mental health care. The award consists of five Garmin vívosmart 5 fitness activity trackers and the Labfront Advanced package.

The Labfront Advanced platform allows researchers to capture data from the trackers such as heart rate and events, monitor participant activity and compliance, and receive analytic reports produced by Labfront's team of data scientists. This service greatly reduces the workload on researchers and allows them to focus on conducting their research rather than managing the collection massive datasets.

The vivosmart 5 (available on Amazon) is a slim band with a bright OLED display that can collect data on sleep, stress, heart rate, hydration, and respiration. The Garmin wearable can run up to a week collecting data on key mental health indicators such as a person's sleep and heart rate variability that reflect their current mental states. 

Garmin health is a division of smartwatch maker Garmin with the goal of expanding the use of their wearables in business applications and medical healthcare and research. Labfront is a company focused on utilizing consumer wearables to bring data to researchers faster through healthcare analytics that help manage complex datasets.
