Following legal issues, the Iris Smart Ring is now called the VELIA Smart Ring. The company has also announced that it is a CES 2024 Award Honouree. The wearable, available to pre-order, can track health metrics such as heart rate and blood oxygen level, with more features in the pipeline.

The team behind the Iris Smart Ring has announced a rebrand. The company is now called VELIA, and the product is the VELIA Smart Ring. In an update on its Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, the company explained that the rebrand resulted from a cease-and-desist letter. It went on to explain that the name VELIA is meant to embody a feeling of exploration and discovery, and is inspired by the constellation Vela.

VELIA also announced that it had been chosen as a CES 2024 Innovation Award Honouree, a high-scoring device in the Wearable Technologies category. The company will attend the event, starting January 9th in Las Vegas, showcasing its gadget. The VELIA Smart Ring can track various biometrics, including heart rate, heart rate variability and blood oxygen level. The ring also includes a medical-grade thermometer, with blood pressure monitoring and menstrual cycle tracking due to arrive in Q2 2024. All insights will be viewable in an accompanying app.

The VELIA Smart Ring is currently available to pre-order via Indiegogo, with prices starting at US$207. This cost includes a lifetime subscription, otherwise charged at US$10 monthly, and the device is due to ship in March 2024. To date, the Indiegogo campaign has over 6,800 backers.
