Amazfit rolls out new update to select smartwatches with improved navigation and workout tracking
Amazfit has released new updates for a few of its recent high-end smartwatches, having recently brought running tracking improvements to the Cheetah series. This time, the company has begun rolling out firmware version 9.24.3.2 to the Falcon (curr. US$419.99 on Amazon) and T-Rex Ultra, which should be available to download globally.
To recap, Amazfit launched the Falcon over a year ago with promises of up to 14 days battery life. By contrast, the T-Rex Ultra arrived a couple of months ago for US$399.99. Incidentally, Gadgets & Wearables has demonstrated that the pair's latest firmware update is only a 6.5 MB download. Still, Amazfit has included various new features, including navigation functionality when skiing, snowboarding or cross-country skiing. Additionally, firmware version 9.24.3.2 adds support for downloading over 15,000 'professional snow field maps'.
As the screenshot below shows, each map can be downloaded from the 'Select Ski Map' sub-menu within the Map app. Moreover, Amazfit claims to have improved GPS positioning, particularly in complex and remote terrains. Also, the Falcon and T-Rex Ultra should now track workouts at 10 ms intervals, although its exact use remains to be seen at this stage.
