Garmin has released Public Beta Version 17.21 for the Forerunner 255, Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965 smartwatches. The update brings a host of new bug fixes to the wearables, with the changelog also listed features added in v17.18.
Fresh bug fixes from Garmin resolve issues with missing images on new watch faces, translation problems and the device crashing when syncing an edited workout to the gadget. A fix for missing map images, which should be shown in the alternate time zones widget, is exclusive to the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955. Also included, and seen in the previous update, are bug fixes for course point limitations and issues relating to Spotify and other music playback tools.
The v17.21 change log lists features added with the older software, like smart notifications with embedded images and weather for multiple locations. Inline skating has been added as an activity, there is a new functionality for body battery and naps and personalized sleep insights have arrived. You can now access a large font mode and up ahead voice prompts. Plus, the Forerunner 265 and 965 wearables now have Red Shift, turning the display red, orange or green to protect night vision.
Garmin notes that the new software is a Release Candidate, meaning an identical version of the update will shortly “Go Live” as a public update. You can download the update from the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. If you wish to join the Beta Program, you can do so via Garmin Connect.
