Garmin has launched the Descent Mk3 and Mk3i dive computers and smartwatches in countries worldwide. There are five new products with varying display sizes, straps and features. Tools included with the wearables include a new Dive Readiness score, SubWave communication technology and a greater maximum operating depth of 200m (~656 ft).

The Garmin Descent Mk3 – 43 mm, Descent Mk3i – 43 mm and Descent Mk3i – 51 mm dive computer and smartwatches are now on sale. The Mk3 wearables, successors to the Descent Mk2, have been designed to enhance your diving experience with various diving modes such as single-gas, multi-gas, gauge and apnea.

Other features include Diveview color maps with depth contours and dive sites, a new Dive Readiness tool to help you estimate when you are most prepared to dive and a 200m (~656 ft) maximum operating depth. There are several differences between the models in the Mk3 series. The 43mm devices have a 1.2-in (30.4 mm) display with a 390 x 390 px resolution, and the 51mm watch has a 1.4-in (~35.6 m) screen with a 454 x 454 px resolution. While the 43mm variants have up to 10 days battery life, the larger 51m Mk3i can last up to 25 days. The i models have a Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) coated titanium or bronze PVD-coated titanium bezel and rear cover, an upgrade on the stainless steel elements of the standard model.

Plus, the Mk3i devices support SubWave sonar technology, allowing divers to communicate underwater. You can also buy the Descent T2 Transceiver with the Mk3i to monitor your gas consumption, tank pressure and remaining air time. Alongside diving, you can use these new smartwatches to track biometrics and other activites such as running, listen to music, receive smart notifications and make contacless payments.
