Fitrus Plus 3.0: Compact device measures a number of vital parameters and could be a replacement for a smart scale

The Fitrus Plus 3.0 is a new device intended to provide accurate insights into one's own level of fitness and conditioning and is currently being financed as part of a crowdfunding campaign. This is less a system for measuring exertion during sporting activities and more a portable device for analyzing body composition.

The device, which only measures 126 x 34 millimeters in size, is reportedly able to measure a wide range of metrics, such as body temperature, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, water retention, blood oxygen saturation and heart rate. Measuring fat percentage is also possible using the appropriate electrical currents, but the accuracy of measurement for the entire body depends heavily on the areas of the body through which the currents flow. In the Fitrus Plus 3.0, these are primarily the arms and upper body. On conventional smart scales, the lower body in particular is analyzed.

The system is intended to provide tailored recommendations in combination with the associated app. Communication takes place via Bluetooth and recharging takes place via USB Type C: a standby time of 20 days is advertised. In contrast to previous models, this device comes with a larger OLED and USB Type C.

Supporters are currently promised a unit for a contribution of around $149. Potential backers should be aware of the financial risks associated with crowdfunding campaigns.
